After Your Tooth Gem Application

The curing process for the adhesive bond can take up to 48-72 hours. Ensuring its longevity and shine requires proper care, especially during this crucial period. Your diet plays a significant role in maintaining the integrity of your tooth gem.

Taking these precautions and avoiding specific foods and drinks during the initial 48–72 hours after getting a tooth gem can significantly contribute to its longevity.

Foods, Drinks, and Things to Avoid in the First 48–72 Hours:

  • Avoid hard foods, sticky foods, and candies.

  • Avoid gum.

  • Avoid tough meats, bread, and chewy foods.

  • Acidic drinks can erode the adhesive securing the tooth gem, compromising its stability. Refrain from consuming soda, citrus juices, and sports drinks.

  • Avoid alcoholic beverages.

  • Avoid carbonated beverages.

  • Avoid hot beverages.

  • Avoid smoking and vaping.

Additional Aftercare Instructions:

  • Do not eat or drink anything other than water for the first two hours. When drinking water, use a straw and avoid contact with the tooth gem.

  • Do not brush directly over the gem for the first 12 hours.

  • You can resume proper dental hygiene after 48 hours.

  • Always brush gently over the tooth gem to prevent damage or accidental removal.

What to Avoid

  • Do not pick at or play with your new tooth gem with your fingers or tongue.

  • Avoid electric toothbrushes on the tooth that has the gem. For optimal longevity, use a soft-bristle toothbrush around the tooth gem.

Longevity + Removal

Your tooth gem is temporary. Tooth gems can last anywhere between one month to one year, though they typically last between one and six months. If the tooth gem comes off within the first month, Blush Studio will offer a complimentary re-application service.

The longevity of tooth gems depends entirely on the individual. The natural acidity of your saliva and diet will affect how long it lasts. This also depends on your at-home care, the size of the gem, and its placement. For example, tooth gems on canine teeth may not last as long as those on incisor teeth because canine teeth have a more rounded surface.

If you wish to have your tooth gem removed, we recommend consulting a dental clinic to have it safely removed.

Tooth Gem Care

  • Keep teeth clean to avoid plaque buildup around the gem.

  • Even after the initial 48 hours, it is advisable to take precautions when consuming alcohol or engaging in smoking or vaping. Consider rinsing your mouth with water or brushing your teeth immediately after to mitigate any potential adverse effects on your gem. This can help ensure your gem lasts longer and maintains its sparkle.
